Cat killer who boasted about ‘butchering’ animals jailed for six months

A man who filmed himself torturing a cat and boasted about ‘butchering’ animals has been jailed for six months.

Stefan Wallace, 25, from Dagenham in London, filmed himself inflicting pain on the cat with spray paint before ending its life.

He was jailed for Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for animal cruelty and was given an order under the Animal Welfare Act banning him from owning or handling any pet for ten years.

The police officer who uncovered the ‘horrifyingly cruel behaviour’ fears Wallace may have been responsible for more animal deaths.

Wallace was initially arrested on October 1 for allegedly possessing a machete in a public place, when he made comments to officers about ‘butchering’ a cat.

During further enquiries, East Area Command officers discovered footage found on a flash drive at his home that showed Wallace torturing the cat with spray paint before killing it.

PC Tony Kiddle of the East Area Command Wildlife Unit said: ‘The footage found at Wallace’s address was disturbing in the extreme.

‘During the filming, he removes his mask to adjust the camera, clearly confirming his identity. Given the vast number of ways that domestic pets, roaming freely, can come to harm, it would be difficult to put a number of the level of his offending.

‘But, given the content of his home footage, I believe that it is likely that he has played a sinister part in the deaths of a number of animals in recent years.’

He added: ‘Wallace has exhibited horrifyingly cruel behaviour and it is reassuring to know that he has been removed to a place where he can cause no further harm to beloved pets.’
