Dog breeder loses licence after selling sick puppies

A woman who sold sick and underweight puppies – one of which died shortly after being bought – has lost her licence.

Ellis Hopkins ran Bardon Bullys in Leicester, UK and bred French bulldogs and American pocket bullys.

She was investigated for a number of breaches of regulations about breeding dogs after three witnesses raised concerns to the RSPCA that puppies that were up for sale were underweight, lethargic and living in dirty conditions with animal waste on the floor.

Dogs that had been sold became ill shortly after they were taken to their new homes and one died.

She was a licensed dog breeder but North West Leicestershire District Council has now revoked her licence.
