Firefighters called to farm to rescue newborn calf

A NEWBORN calf had to be rescued by firefighters after falling five metres down a slope.

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue was called to a farm in Keighley just hours after the calf had been born.

The calf had slipped into the water after descending the slope.

Firefighters on Cleckheaton’s Technical Rescue Team (TRT) used their expertise and equipment to bring the calf back to safety.

The calf was then returned to its distressed mother.

Speaking after the call-out, a fire service spokesperson said: “After a welfare check, both mum and calf are now safe and sound in the barn. Great job, team.”
